Dear Parent/ Guardian:
As part of the legislated Daily Physical Activity (DPA) by the Province of BC, students at Carmi will be participating in various exercise activities on school property and off school grounds in the Penticton Community. Activities include running club, endurance, strength and flexibility, and take a different form depending on the weather. Outdoor activities may include a Class or School Wide Walk/Run, walks to community facilities, etc.
As activities take place throughout the week, we require your permission for your child to participate each day, Monday through Friday (September to June inclusive), weather permitting. On occasion we will reschedule these sessions if weather hampers our original day. Classes will participate in P.E. classes that meet the DPA requirements on the other days.
It is imperative that ALL students come prepared for physicial activities EVERY day. They require properly fitting running shoes and comfortable clothes that they can move freely in and that are suitable for the season. Clean-soled shoes are needed for indoor activities that are non-marking to protect the gym floor. Older students may be asked to change into gym strip for hygiene reasons.
Accidents can be the result of the nature of the activity and can occur with or without any fault on either the part of the student, or the school board or its employees or agents, or the facility where the activity is taking place. By allowing your child to participate in this activity, you are accepting the risk of an accident occurring, and agree that this activity, as described above, is suitable for your child.
